The Book & Bucket Cheese Company hand make artisan cheese in the heart of Dorset. Made using sheep and cow’s milk, we have a range of award winning cheeses, with our signature cheese, a sheep milk brie called Shakespeare, winning a Gold World Cheese Award.
The Book & Bucket Cheese Company was founded 5 years ago by Peter Morgan. When Peter began making cheese, he sought the advice of people that had between them over 120 years experience in the industry. They each said the starting point was to buy some books and read as much as possible. After that it is just “bucket science” and to keep playing until you make something you like! In January 2019, with a bucket full of recipes, many ideas and with the help of friends, Peter launched the Book and Bucket Cheese Company.
Our range of cheese includes highlights such as Hardy’s, our Manchego style hard cheese which has a depth and complexity that deepens as it ages, resulting in an almost fudge like taste. Potter is our incredibly versatile soft cheese that can be used in both sweet and savoury dishes and Cranborne Blue is our creamy, gentle blue cheese. Wilde is our soft cheese made using foraged wild garlic leaves and Smoked Huxley is our ‘squeaky’ cheese which is smoked over oak chips, producing a wonderful cheese that is perfect for the BBQ.
All our milk is sourced locally, collected within 24 hours of being milked and is turned into cheese that day, before being stored in our cheese cellars. The resulting cheese are full of the terroir of the beautiful area of outstanding natural beauty just outside our door.
