Create a Perfect Local Picnic At Winchester Food Festival
Now in its second year, Winchester Food Festival has over 30 producers taking part in this free culinary extravaganza. Set in the beautiful grounds of Winchester Cathedral, what better place to enjoy a picnic whilst watching the action on the Chefs’ Kitchen Stage. Here are our suggestions of stalls to visit to create the perfect spread.
Open House Deli an independently female owned and sustainably led kitchen, cafe and ecoshop in Winchester. They make everything from scratch in their kitchens and believe in consuming consciously by truly celebrating seasonal ingredients. At the Festival they will have artisan fresh bread and unique small batch food and drink brands for you to sample and buy. They will also be selling some great products to take out on the go, helping you lessen your impact on the planet day to day.
Beaky Blinders is a completely Gluten, Wheat, Dairy and Soya Free kitchen with a passion and drive to create delicious sweet and savoury foods for everyone to enjoy. Whether it’s an allergy/intolerance/lifestyle choice, they believe no-one should have to go without. At the Festival they will have a variety of their brownies, blondies, rocky roads, sausage rolls, slices and pastry turnovers. They will also have their large selection of vegan products to accompany everything.
Madk (Mum and Dad’s Kitchen) began in a home kitchen as a hobby and has grown into a full and successful business for Jane and Dave. They produce gluten free pies, quiches, cakes and pastry both wholesale and online. Jane says: “We like to say that our products are unbelievably gluten free as you just can’t tell the difference – and we have tricked many a judge at The British Pie Awards!” Pick up one of their quiches, sausage rolls and pork pies for your picnic and try for yourself.
